Where do you live? Frost depths vary from location to location. The supports for the deck posts must extend below the frost line or the deck will heave and structural damage could occur. If you live in New Mexico you may not need frost protection. If you supported your deck on 4 posts, each post will carry 2880 pounds under full load, assuming 60 pounds per square foot loading, code for my area. Whatever support is used it must be able to support point loads of 2880 pounds. Your 4" patio slab might do this if it extends at least 15" beyond the center of the post in every direction. But it is doubtful, especially if the post rests near an edge. Support pads should be 8 to 12 inches thick. This all is moot if you must address point one.
