Question about buried electrical cable

Hi, I'm going to be putting an electrical sub-panel in my attached garage. The easiest way to do this is to run a 6 feet underground section from the main panel to the new sub-panel. I'm planning on using rigid metal conduit (RMC). Here's the question. Does the RMC need to be physically attached to the main and sub-panel (ie. The conductors are encased in RMC the entire run)? Or, can I use RMC underground, secure it to the building at both ends, and then secure the romex using staples the remainder of the run to the main and sub-panels? Thanks. . |
