Thanks Mellowed, I have a 300,000 BTU swimming pool heater I can use but would like to try using the wood stove first because that would be free heat. I had planned on using black iron pipe and was going to use antifreeze in the water. I like the idea of a manifold. -- JerryD(upstateNY) I had such a system heated by a swimming pool heater and pump. The biggest problem was insufficient heat transfer between the 'pvc' pipe and the concrete. Suggest that you don't use PVC. I used Anti-Freeze in the water. My driveway was on a 15% slope. To make sure that the lines were purged, I circulated through a swimming pool filter tank at the top of the driveway. All air could escape the system at that point. One other point. You might consider feeding the system in sections from a manifold. This could provide more uniform heating for a long driveway. Good Luck. . |
