In general, can you put a wood insert into a pre-fab ? ****************************************************************** I wouldn't do it. The problem would be the flue. Many of the old inserts just had an opening in the back of the stove and the smoke just went out the hole and found it's way up the chimney. All these set-ups had chimney fires as the creosote built up between the insert and the pre-fab. I don't know what kind of insert you have but make sure the flue is connected to the insert with no gaps or you will burn your house down. -- Joe . |
