Weather-Bos vs Sikkens?

A client wants two (S & E facing walls, Toronto) 15 yr old varnished 1 x 5 pine clapboard walls refinished. He's environmentally-minded, so I suggested using Weather-Bos latex varnish, that offers 15 yr warranty when three coats applied as directed. The surfaces have lost half their varnish, which I plan to strip with belt & orbital sanders then pressure-wash, as latex varnish doesn't adhere to belt-sanded surface. I've never used this product before, but have used oil-based Sikkens Cetol 1 & Cetol 2-3 on a cedar cottage with good results after orbital sanding, cottage still looks good 13 years later. Book value is $3.00 CAN/ft to sand & $1.00 to roll three coats of varnish + material + scaffolding rental + removing & rehanging vine off S wall after much pruning (False Buckwheat, pretty innocuous as vines go) Any experience with Weather-Bos #5 out there? http://www.weatherbos.com http://www.nam.sikkens.com . |
