I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not trying to skimp on the stringers. The manual says you must use 2x6 treads *AND* 12" stringer spacing. I'm happy to do the 12" stringers. But I REALLY want to use 5/4. Yes, you're right, I'm looking for justification to not follow the instructions. Sounds kinda dumb-ass I admit, except I really don't want to use the 2x6, because it's a big deal to get it in "Accent" and because I'm gathering everyone else uses 5/4 anyhow. Thanks, John . |
