Title of the message:
Stone Wall Question

Text of the message:
I am working on the outside foundation of my old house and I have put up
steel lathe and a scratch coat, and instead of using stucco to finish it
off, I am thinking of using stone that I have available to me to create a
stone wall foundation, a sort of field stone I guess but I can split it with
not too much effort (layered, some kind of shale?) to around an inch or so.
The stones vary in size up to about a foot and a half (estimated area
coverage of the wall per stone). Is there anybody out there that might have
some advice for me on this project? It sounds like allot of work I am sure,
but a project I would really like to do. Is there a premix I can use to
adhere the stone to my scratch coat, or a mortar recipe that would be best?
House is in Rhode Island, if weather is a concern.
Thanks, Hutch
.
