Re: UBC and sistering glulam beams

Bob Update we had a SE come and evaluate this morning. He would not approve sistering as the supporting post midway underneath the original glulam beam would not be underneath the sister beam. His only suggestion was to design and fabricate two metal plates 23 feet long on each side of the existing glulam and to weld hangers to one of the plates to support the floor joists. Seems excessive to me. I will email you some photos and ask for some recommendations. Thanks Michel . |
