That's exactly what I thought. If you have to patch the holes anyway, why spend unneccesary time taking out the nails ? You could remove the strip very carefully and use a small high speed grinder to cut the nail off flush with the floor, but you would STILL have to go over each nail with patching compound and it would take the same 4-6 hours, when you could do it in 1-2 hours. -- JerryD(upstateNY) "So what you are saying is that you can get them out without knocking out chunks of concrete, but you will still have to patch the holes? OK, with your method, I will have to carefully remove all the tack strips leaving the nails in place, then carefully remove each nail. Then I can mix up my patching compound and patch all the holes. Appoximate time for an entire room: 4-6 hours. Or I can take my flat bar and remove all the tack strips and nails, then mix my patching compound and patch all the holes. |
