So if the shingle has covered nails as well, I'll be splitting or breaking the shingle along that line? ************************************************************************* Yes, the shingle will leave small pieces above the nails which won't hurt a thing. If you only have a few shingles to replace, do it like I said. Shingles are usually nailed about 2" up on the shingle to prevent splitting. Everyone seems to be making an all day job of a 15 minute fix. -- JerryD(upstateNY) > Pull the exposed nails out. > Pull down on the damaged shingle as you wiggle it to the right and left. > The shingle should pull out easily. > Measure where the nails were in the old shingle and cut a new shingle 1/8" > shorter. > Slide the new shingle up into place and re-nail it. > You can be done in 5 minutes. . |
