If it were my place, I'd go with your #2 option and either tyvek or 30# black building paper over the OSB. My inlaws just redid their old alum siding (FL hurricane damage) with vinyl. It was a double wide mobile home which had NO wall cladding on it..just the batts and aluminum nailed right to the studs ! The batts had LOTS of ants, lizards and frogs living in it..they'd worked their way in at the corners. We covered the batts with fanfold 1/4" styrene foam, then screwed the new vinyl on. >>> 2x6(on 24" center) lumber, 7/16 Aspenite OSB with R-20x23 bat insulation . |
