yes its okay if the residue is not loose. Note: spray heavier on the perimeter of the residue to try to blend it in. start 12 inches out to residue. Leave and go and spray another area and comeback to see what else is required to hide the residue spot. Go for it, there is not what one would say pattern to it. Once it is done it all looks good, remember: eat your wheaties cause your shoulder muscles are going to cry.....
