We used a power vent in our old house attic with a temp sensor. X amount of heat & the vent powers up. Worked great to keep the heat down/out, at least to ambient air temp. We set it to go on @ 115 degrees due to summer temps. But the house had no soffit or ridge vents either, just gable ends. Something like a 1/4~1/3 hp with a squirrel cage fan. Very quiet as well.
