Porch Beam - 3/4 pine wrap

I'm constructing a porch beam that's 2X lumber and plywood with a 3/4 clear pine wrap on front, back and bottom. When finished, it'll be painted white. It'll sit atop HBG PermaPost columns (pvc w/ steel tube core). I want the finished beam to be clean--no visible hardware, and I want the seams of the 3/4 pine wrap to hold together long-term. Any suggestions on how to attach the 3/4 wrap material to the inner core? I was planning on Liquid Nailing it, using some trim head screws to assist holding it (as few as possible), then filling the screw holes. -Is the Liquid Nails a good idea, or is there a better product to use in this situation? -Is there something better than the trim head screws to use in addition to the Liquid Nails?
