Unusual walls in 1920s house

I was looking through a "fixer upper" here in Victoria BC today, and noticed something odd about all the walls in this 1925 house. They were all made of some sort of fibre board. Not a plaster wall in the place. I didn't notice until I saw a hole drilled into one of the walls as saw it was "wood". Then rapped my knuckles onto all the walls, and they all had that hollow wood echo. Seems very odd, anyone hear of this before? . |
