This beam with a wall under it ceases to be an open span. The heavy load is then partially supported by the new wall section so its all going in the direction of less stress on the beam..a few dinky pins in it wont cause a problem...because there is NOW a wall under the beam.. with studs in it... and for you since you are so worried, a couple of 4x6 posts in place of a few of the studs.
