Florheat looks like an interesting product for certain applications. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I recently installed 800sf of Warmboard for the second floor of the house we're building. The 2700sf first floor is traditional PEX laid in the slab. For those who do not know, Warmboard is 1 1/8 T&G Plywood Subflooring with integral grooves for 1/2in PEX on 12in centers. It has an aluminum face sheet embossed to the surface. The aluminum is formed into the tubing grooves in such a way to produce an omega channel that grabs the tubing fairly well. The Warmboard itself ran a little over $5/sf, and the PEX, manifold, etc for this zone ran another $700. It did however replace all the subfloor, which would have run around $800. Warmboard was certainly not the cheapest option, but it sounds like it was cheaper that Florheat. I had my framer |
