Hi, Just back from Italy.. Best place in Venice for seafood, and lace, and beautiful lunches..is the charming island of Burano..coloured houses and a quaint fishing village. We went to the Murano shop in St.Mark's square..the glass was beautiful, but pricey.. July will be hot..October was hot in Rome, and when we left, a fortnight ago, the mornings were nippy! days hot. Sistine Chapel and Vatican...long queues. We went with a tour group, but still had to wait. I have heard that after 12 in the afternoon is a good time. Don't forget the statue of David, in the Accademia in Florence. We loved the majestic basilica of Padua..a lovely university town..but my favourites are Tuscany and Umbria. especially Assisi.
