I've had three bikes stolen. Two from the _locked_ storage space in my apartment building in Philadelphia when I lived there (about a year apart) and then fairly recently from my back yard in Manchester. The latter is enclosed by a wall, so I just assumed it was fine, and would leave it there unlocked. Well, it was fine for around 2 and a half years, then someone nicked it. I'm really annoyed I didn't lock it, because my neighbour was woken up by the noise (I sleep on the other side of the house so was oblivious) and chased after the youth who stole |
