Ticket pricing on their website is similar to what airlines do; basic yield-management practices that mean pricing typically goes way up shortly before departure, with the cheapest tickets well in advance. Yet sometimes you'll see cheap pricing the day before on one or two trips, obviously to try and encourage people to take a last-minute trip on a relatively-empty train.
