If you go to their site: http://trearchi.hotelinvenice.com/main_en.htm?source= they will give you rates and options to get there. An option not mentioned is to walk from the bus(not water bus) stop to the hotel. Probably take 30 min, and have to cross 2 or 3 bridges, but only €7 for your group If you plan to buy Vaperetto tickets, you could do it when you arrive at the parking lot, and ride it around to the nearest vap stop(tri archi). ..The Hotel in which you are staying is on the far NW tip of Venice, and the €70 for 2-4 people in a water taxi may be the correct rate. The €80 is the standard rate to get from VCE to the middle of the Grand Canal. Brace yourself for purchase of 7 multi day Vap passes. Do a bit of research to find out which multi day best covers family with children. I do not recall a break for seniors when tourists.
