theco, The problem with living in Stuttgart is all the nice places to visit within a hundred mile radius of town. I've been to Esslingen and it does have an enjoyable old center and the church is great. In fact, almost any town at the end of a S-bahn line is worth visiting, and of course also Ludwigsburg with its three palaces and fairy tale gardens. Although my wife has lived in Stuttgart for years, she had never visited Besigheim and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. We drive through Ulm fairly frequently and have stopped to visit the town as my mother-in-law lives in Ummendorf by Biberach an der Riss. I enjoy visiting the places near there in Upper Swabia, with a large number of beautiful baroque churches (Steinhausen described as the most beautiful village church, the Biberach church where we had a church wedding a few years ago, and Ummendorf, among others) and numerous |
