Plitvice is indeed spectacular - save at least an entire day for exploring the trails. It is about 2 hours out of Zagreb; we got there on the bus line that runs between Zagreb and Dubrovnik. There was quite a bit of unrepaired war damage as well as several abandoned villages in the interior as one moved away from the coast on the way to Zagreb, particularly near Knin. (This was in 2001.) Most o fthe coastal damage had been repaired. . |
