It's about an hour, and at least from Vienna a single was 11.50 euro, though there looked like discounts for day trips. Sorry, I can't advise about returns, and the slovak railway website doesn't seem very helpful, so maybe someone who has done the journey knows. Whatever, it's not going to be expensive, which is the main thing. We took the train to the main station, which is north of the old city.
