Carol Carol, I guess I do not know what you mean by "self-guided," since you also want to know about tour companies. I'll just say that last April a friend and I went to Burgundy, rented bikes, and toured around on an itinerary we designed based on our own interests, on books, and on advice from the people we rented bikes from.
