There is no way that makes economic sense. If this is a typical European kettle it will draw about 2000W. Check what it says on the kettle. Trouble is that this is more power than an ordinary American receptacle is rated for. (15 Amps at 120V = 1800W.) If there is a 20A receptacle somewhere (the type with a T-shaped slot) it will work, but the transformer is still expensive. If there isn't, you can call an electrician and ask him/her to install a 240V receptacle in a suitable location. An American 15A 240V plug has the prongs like this _ _ unlike the ordinary 120V version which looks like | | . Then you need no transformer and the power is more than enough. (15 Amps at 120V = 3600 W) . |
