Scandinavia is well under £100 to fly to from the UK - the problem with Russia was the cost of flights (around £250), then visa (around £75) meaning that a lot of money was soaked up before arriving. Also, accomodation was not particularly cheap once there. Flights to the baltics also seem to be quite expensive but looking at hostel prices, I take your point - think I will have to look at a lonely planet guide to croatia etc. I had heard that since Sweden devalued its currency, things were cheaper. Is this not actually the case or was it just that things were astronomical to begin with? How do prices compare to the rest of western europe?
