Pretty sure that Poland is not in the euro zone - it has only just been admitted as an EU member. Hotels often quote euros for convenience. I think that Auschwitz is probably too far for a day trip. Can check train journey times with http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en .. Auschwitz is well worth visiting though - not a pleasant experience but very moving. Krakow is a lot nicer that Warsaw so if you can, stay in Krakow for a day or two and do the Auschwitz visit while you are there - you can easily get the train from Krakow to Oswiecim - the town in which Auchwitz is situated squelch41 . |
