Well, people can be touchy about what questions are posted on a newsgroup. I have two big concerns to begin with. First is a safe place to snorkel, and second is how to eat out and still not end up getting sick. I understand there is a fierce undercurrent along most of the beaches in Cancun. So where can I go nearby that is safe for snorkeling. I've seen pictures of Xel Ha, and that looks beautiful and I hope to make it there, but it looks to be a long ways off. I will have a rental car, so I should be able to get around. Also, I know that it's easy to catch a bug and end up sick, and I know that a lot of that has to do with what you eat. Are certain restaurants safe while others aren't? Is the physical appearance of the restaurant a good indication if it's likely to be safe or not? What should I do to avoid getting sick?
