Maho and Cinnamon Bay camping at New Years

We hope to camp in St John for a week, over New Years. We stayed in a tent at Cinnamon Bay in Feb'2000 and loved it. Are looking at a cottage this time (avoids nighttime donkeys/mongoose raids) but are torn because the tents were so peaceful/private. We are not partiers, but we do enjoy interacting with locals and fellow travelers. Although we experienced Cinnamon Bay, we heard great things about Maho Bay years ago. So here are our questions: 1. What should we know about Maho in terms of noise level and partiers over the New Years period (Dec28-Jan4). Is it mostly a college age crowd, young adults, older folks, families, or a broad range? 2. I saw that Maho Bay has an airstrip with a daily large flight to/from Europe since 2000. True? Has that made camping at Maho less attractive to you who were fans? 3. Is staying in a Maho tent cottage more of a private or a community |
