Cuba in June=rain and storms or sun and calm?

We're thinking of going to Cuba, to the Varadero area, in the first half of June this year, but read various places about the rainy season stretching from May to October, high winds etc. Should we choose another destination, or do you think we still might be blessed with a week of mostly sunshine and calm weather if we choose to go there in June?
