Landlord question

I'm going to move at the end of this month and expect the landlord to hold all my security deposit for whatever he can invent. They think that all securities are theirs. I know that new state laws have taken effect that not only will I get my money back, but will give him a penalty for with holding them. He has violate the 24 hour notice several times. I sent them a certified letter requesting it. I'd like to run his penalties up to about 5k. I've been here 7 years, paid everything on time, gave 30 days notice (cert. mail) and have the original check in sheet (the place was a mess when I moved in). It will not be 'bad' when I move out, but all I am required to do is return the apartment in the same condition. I doubt that he has it, as he bought the building after I moved in. _Any URL's_? Or group where this matter is discussed? Goggle brings up nothing for San Diego, except lawyers to hire. Thanks. . |
