Nason89@aol.com - kitchen cabinets
- We are building a home and I have questions regarding kitchen cabinets.
We were leaning towards Kraftmaid Thermofoil because we are a lttle
leery of painted wood. The house is in VA and we were afraid that the
humidity may cause problems with cracks in the wood. But I have not
have any Thermofoil cabinets. Does anyone have these, and, if so what
do you think of them in terms of durab...

"Diane" - cedar rafter span max
- Had engineer say my 4x8 cedar rafters were ok for concrete tile over
deck/porch/balcony last year, but there were span issues with the 18' 4x6
barge rafters that extend over both the house & deck. His suggestion of
multiple LVLs was not appealing, so I had asked him on the phone whether
adding bracket supports (4x12 beams) roughly at mid-point would work. He
had said yes, but now...

"Harry Muscle" - Re: Using Splicers and Tap Connectors with Aluminum Wiring instead of Twist On Wire Nuts?
- The ones I'd use aren't too large, about 1.5 inches cubed for the tap
connectors and I'm hoping the dimensions for the splicer is listed in
cm or otherwise those things are way way bigger than I expected.
As for the twist on wire nuts, have a read here:
http://www.inspect-ny.com/aluminum.htm
Apparently they don't really improve the safety aspect of aluminum
wiring much. About...

ransley@webtv.net (m Ransley) - Re: Buying a house: basement drain questions.
- My old house had no floor drain it is lower than the outside sewer
drain. But you need a sump pump as things will happen. I poured a new
floor so it was easy. Use a pit for a pump. . Check for one that has the
water, floor level pitched to it , I put in 2 pumps one backup a water
powered incase of power failure. www.basepump.com or www.zoeler.com
have them. But first dig up the sa...

"YouRepair.com" - Re: Buying a house: basement drain questions.
- Ask the seller to disclose what those holes are for.
They may be forms for footings that never got poured.
When you have a large slab they will sometimes place a footing support
under it and this most often happens in garages but could have been
spec'd in your basement.
They might also be footings to support a pole that would support a beam
that would support the mid-span of y...
