By "up-front fees", I was referring to any fees that your broker
himself charges you to join his office, such as desk fees, Errors and
Omission Insurance,etc.
It has been my experience that it is best to avoid such brokers. If you
were to join, say, an average Century 21 office(as I once did), you'd
pay nothing at all to the broker to join the office. Of course, you'd
have to pay...

talking about the Broker's fees that include insurance etc. or are you
taling about board fees, supra card fees, mls fees,etc?

You ask some very good questions.
Of course you are right to be concerned about commission splits and
upfront fees. In my opinion, you are better off going with a broker who
charges you no upfront fees. As a new agent a 50/50 split is most
acceptable, especially if the broker pays for advertising, etc.
If you go with a broker that pays you a higher split, you can expect to
