Hi, Just went through that. If you start looking for a new house before your old one is sold, you could sign a contract on the new home with a contingency clause that states .'.the purchase is dependent on buyer selling their house'. But, a seller may be reluctant to agree to this unless your current home is under contract or may not agree at all. You could also apply for a bridge loan with the same contingencies. It's better to sell before buying as a rule because you have more leverage in the negotiations if you have cash on hand. The problem there is where do you go in the meantime? Short term rentals can be found especially in seasonal areas but your having pets makes finding one more difficult. About 50% or more rentals do not permit pets. Try looking at Craigslist.org for short term rentals in your area. You can also advertise there free if you are looking for a rental. |
